"Before You Accuse Me" is a popular blues song written by Ellas McDaniel, better known as rock and roll icon Bo Diddley. The song’s first album release was on Bo Diddley’s self-titled debut album in 1958."Before You Accuse Me" was also recorded and released twice by Eric Clapton: an electric version on his 1989 album Journeyman and a live acoustic version for the MTV Unplugged series, later to be released on his 1992 Grammy winning album Unplugged. The Journeyman’s electric version enjoyed 16 weeks on Billboard’s Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks, peaking at number 9 during the week of June 23, 1990Both the electric and acoustic versions of "Before You Accuse Me" were included on Clapton's various setlists over the years, from the Knebworth charity show of 1990 to the recent North American and European Summer tours of 2008.
